My Comic Book Review - 2011

This year was a good year for me as a collector for a few reasons.

Comic Book Purchases

  • I finished off an important run of comics I had been focusing on, X-men 1-10. The run was completed with my purchase of a really nice copy of X-men 6.

  • I also added some nice bronze age horror comics, like Neal Adams House of Mystery coovers and Swamp Thing issues.

  • I purchased my first golden age comics. The  comics were mostly Jumbo Comics, featuring Sheena, and a few disney comics. The condition isn't great on these comics but the cover art is fantastic.

This year I did not make the trip to the New York Comic-Con as I had already signed up to run in the Baltimore Marathon 5K event. I did however help out at the Baltimore Comic-Con in August which was a great time as usual.

Awesome Comic book Movies

Of course there were a lot of great comic book movies released this year and I was not able to see all of them. Below are my rankings for those movies I did see in the theatres.

  1. X-men: First Class

  2. Captain America

  3. Thor

I did not see Green Lantern or Conan (I suppose not technically a comic book character) so I can't really weigh-in on those movies.

I closed out the comic collecting year with a great purchase of a nice X-men 94 and hanging out with some great collectors at a holiday get together in mid-December.

Here's to a great 2012 for everyone!
